Nice and simple. I love it!! I think I can gather the recipe for it by looking at it, but how's 'bout typing it out for us.

Thread: orange
Hook: Daiichi 1510 size 6
Tail: 2 pcs grizzly marabou (try to find narrower ones), couple sprigs flash-a-bou (actually one that I fold in half and in half again) Tie on so it's split 50/50 on both sides of the marabou tail
Back: about 5 pieces peacock herl (from a 5 inch pice of peacock herl, can get at least 5 flies out of it, maybe more)
Body: white ice dub
Eyes: bead chain
Throat/eggsac: oregon cheese yarn (or color of choice)
Will be giving them a try next month on the PM. Hope to hit some late steelies or early browns. The river is full of them this time of year. May be missing the eggsac by now but it may help attract a little.

Not sure why that wouldn't catch fish.

....for anybody who's super anal about recipes, and since I can't figure out how to edit my original recipe:
The hook is a Daiichi 1510 size 6
Of course, any other alternative I'm sure would work that you have at your desk as long as it's extra strong, but that's what was used here.

Nice job on tying the fly it looks great but it dont look like no salmon fry.Whatever you call it though Im sure it will give you great results catching fish on.
Maybe try retying a variation of the muddler minnow to match your salmon fry.

OK, so it may not be a fry exactly but rather an alevin, since the fry is the next stage up from what this looks like, but maybe I should call it a real old fart alevin then

I used to use a very small jig similar looking to that fly years ago caught plenty of trout on it.I would say the fly looks more like bug is a wet or dry fly?

Nice tie! I'll be tying a few of those soon. I might try to substitute a short rabbit strip for the marabou, but it looks great just as it is.

You know, just like any pattern, substitutions are inevitable, considering sometimes we need to look at what materials we have available at hand, instead of racing out to get "that material".
This recipe is just listing what was used for this exactly as is, but I could easily see a trimmed down rabbit strip providing a nice slender profile of a fry/alevin, maybe even better.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for racing out out and buying even more material that I'll probably never finish up using in my lifetime:lol:

Good Day,
Nice work.
Alvin patterns = fish. If you time it right, alevin patterns are killer.
I found some really cool glow in the dark orange rubber beads on Ebay. I use them as the egg sack on alevin patterns. Deadly, looks just the real thing. I also tend ti tie them sparse.

Nice. Fry patterns are deadly.

Nice...How long does a pattern like that take to tie?

Did anyone see the movie Ice Age. That thing looks just like the squirell that is always chasing the acorn. Nice job on it. Should catch some fish.
