There are a few small lakes down here that i would like to fish this summer but the sings say no gas motors. if i just use my trolling to get around and and not even use the gas one would this be ok?

Most of the ones I fished on allowed electric trolling motors I would stop in at the nearest Lake that is manned and ask...Or call you local CO thats what they are paid for

:yikes: Careful there. Speaking from experience on a lake up north in a state owned rec area, no motors means just that...NONE. Not even electric. I specifically asked the DNR this question years ago. Now maybe it's different if the "no motors" rule is just a local ordinance, but as far as I know, when it's a state regulation, it means none.

Just Ducky, he said the sign says no gas motors so I'm guessing it's a local thing. But I would check around before I put my rig into the lake.

I will try to find out because I have the same question, almost? Where I want to go it says no bigger then a 10 hp motor? I have a 40 hp on my boat and a trolling motor and I could also put a 10 hp kicker on it. All I need to use is the trolling motor but is it illegal to have the 40hp mounted on the boat? Oh and the other part it says is no wake? So whats the difference if I have a 200hp motor or a 5hp if its no wake?

No difference at all. One time my brother was leaving the Harley Ensign ramp with a 14ft car top boat and a 5hp on it, he got a ticket for making a wake in the Clinton River. Sheriff said he was going fast enough to make white water.

I can answer that one; They put electric motors on the pontoon boats.

All the no gas engines lakes that I have been on allow you to use an electric motor even though you have a gas motor on your boat. Just don't start your gas motor and you are OK. One time a guy at the office told me this lake is OK if you have a gas motor but you have to keep it titled out of the water. So it's always a good idea to check the local authorities.
