I have a 1985 Crest II Pontoon. Boat was in pretty bad shape. I put a new floor/carpet and painted it last year. She ran great all year but the throttle cables were extremely tight. If you were to sit in it for the first time and try and push the the trottle down you would think it was broke. I tried to lube it up by spraying W-D down the cable and that didn't help much. My next question is what I need to be looking for. Without knowing much about boats I'm thinking this is what I need:
http://www.boatpartstore.com/cables.asp Click on Johnson/Evinrude Throttle/Shift Cables, and go to page 4.
The boat is in storage now, just trying to get ahead of the game. It has a 1985 Johnson, 35hp. Is the throttle cable the control cable? Next question is would I need two, one for forward and reverse? Can't remember if it had one or two cables. I'm very green to boating and any info would be greatly appreciated! I know I should just wait to look when it's out of storage. Just trying to start saving money for the season. I know what BOAT means: Break Out Another Thousand!
