The wing consists of 8 feathers layed on top of the hook and secured with wire

The collar gives a very realistic fin impression. What did you use??

Will never work! Trout only eat #18 BWO's and #16 sulphurs! Way too big! Why would you ever... funny, was almost able to finish that thought - very nice looking streamer - you certainly have a much better touch with wool than I do!

If you need a tester I'd be happy to work it on the Smallies....send me about 6 dozen in assorted colors....:D Really good looking pattern.

Actually there isn't much of a collar. The back fin starts right behind the wool. I did palmer 2 pretty good sized hackles for the fins. Once palmered I splayed them out and figure-8 tied them in place.

Huron River Dan, I've experimented with several colors over the years including brown, black and tan and olive will outfish all of them.

Do you flare the wool like you would deer hair? I like olive, it's amazing when you start looking at live critters at how many have an olive tint to them. Have you considered tying in hen body feathers as fins?

Very nice looking fly...

Dan, I have tried hen feathers, but found they're not stiff enough and end up folding next to the body and thus loosing the profile.

As for the head, it's tied in pecil-sized clumps in that size. There's 5 total. 3 toward the back of the head and 2 up front. None on the bottom.

Hope that helps ;)

Great looking fly...Did you use dubbing for the body?

Again a great looking fly...Is the fly weighted? If so, lead wraps or eyes?

It's weighted with .025 about 2/3 of the shank. That particular one has palmered EP fibers for the body.

I tied a couple at the show with olive chenille and they looked decent. Puglisi came up with a sparkle brush (in several colors including olive) and I believe that's going to be the ticket

Mike Schmidt uses it on several baitfish patterns and it adds the perfect amount of flash

What's the drink of choice when tying them?
How many drinks per fly?
How many before even starting to tie?
I want to get this pattern correct!
I'm working on some tonight. Sweet job homeboy!
