Let’s say you are using a Centerpin with a 2" directional planer board - now that would be different! Well there is such a thing and it is called the BulletBobber. It planes laterally to the left or right if you stop your free drift. Giving it a little tug will flip the direction it planes and that means you have on-demand direction control. Why is this important? Because it allows you to set up your drift to drift the lane you want instead of being subject to the current! You can real part way in adjust the location (side to side) and drift another lane. It actually works with any fishing rod from the infamous Sponge Bob one piece rod to the simpler but more costly Centerpins. Centerpins do have what it takes to take full advantage of the directional planers.
