Now I'm no local to the Saginaw Bay fishery and by no means an expert on fish behavior, but man oh man were those fish tough to get a bite from yesterday.

Met up with my uncle (Hart as you all know him on the board) @ the State Park access around 6 am, and had our holes drilled just barely before sun-up.

First spot did not produce. Second spot, saw a couple on the cam but they weren't hungry.

Our third spot in shallower water was more interesting. At one point or another, I was giving the cam a 360 degree turn and when it came back to our jigs an 'eye was staring right at my dad's minnow. I could tell he was hungry because every time he raised the minnow, he would follow it up.

Once he bit, my dad set the hook like a puss and barely stung him. 0 for 1.

Uncle saw a couple more on the cam so we decided to head to the river mouth.

Fished the near side of the channel in about 13-15 FOW (unsure about that). Well, my uncle swears he's never seen so many walleyes in one night (around 40+, several had some size to them), we just couldn't get any to go. Got stripped a couple of times but I don't think it was from an 'eye.

Oh well, we'll get 'em next time.

Shoot, with a fisherman like you out there "sleepy", I'm suprised you haven't iced 'em all :D.

It'd be nice to make another trip like that in the near future, maybe with A-Ron this time. PM me and lets get another one goin'.

Hart do you think that the eyes are finally moving towards the river system?

There's been fish in the system, just not great numbers of hens. Males are typically first to come in.

However, it was clear to me Sunday evening that there were good numbers of fish coming in. With yesterday's warm rain, I would look for a serious push. This should draw the fish in closer - although guys are catching fish out farther, there have been fish caught (and seen) only 2 miles offshore. It's not far for them to get to 4-6 FOW as it is.

That's my take.

Might head out and try somewhere in the morning. Was thinking, maybe out of state park. Will be walking, so it's going to be a long walk...lol

Hey Muskie Dan, I went out of the state park turnaround today and never had to take it out of 2wd. Wasn't worth the time though. Taking the shanty down by myself in the wind ain't to fun. Fished 10' saw a few and no takers.
