I have never tried night ice fishing. BUT I certainly will do it again. Went over to a lake over between Lansing and G.R. and fished for Bluegill during afternoon and then fished for crappie at night inside of a portable shanty at night and what an awesome experience. Caught Specs on wax worms and minnows. What was awesome was the size of them. 11-12 inchers.:yikes: And talk about a fight on two pound test line. It was a great experience for something that I never done before. It was really great because it was on my birthday and had one of my older sons there. In fact it was he that suggested we try night fishing. Parson Bob

Yeah those crappies can really fight and when you fish for them at night they seem to go on a feeding frenzy, that is if you can find them. I was hooked on them for a while.

Fun! Fun! Fun! We fish 5-6 times a year for Crappie at night thru the ice and you now see what a blast it can be. Our best luck has come between 10:00pm and 1:00am. Sometimes we hammer them just 1-3 ft under the ice in 20+ ft of water. In a few more years my boy's will be able to stay up late and fish at night. Now they're a little to young but I look forward to that day.
Glad to hear you had fun and Happy Birthday as well!
