This gill was 9 5/8" I had another that was 9 1/2" but not near as wide from belly to back.

Nice fish indeed. IMO Big Gills are a real tressure, more so than a big walleye, pike or bass and up there with a big stream trout. - Bryon

Nice gill there! I always consider an 8" gill to be a nice gill but it's always amazing just how small they look next to a 9 1/2" hog! I got an 11" a few weeks ago and it make the 9'ers" I caught at the same time look like dinks! LOL

I wish I still lived in Branch Cty. I grew there and there's a lot of lakes where 9" Gills were taken for granted if you knew how to fish at all!
There's still plenty of lakes down there where a limit of gills like that are common if you know the lake.;)
I'm a little jealous but we've got a few good lakes around here----just too many people living around here and it just grows every year.
Now you got me thinking about spring and fly rods!
