O.K.
How many of you women clean your own deer?
My wife will clean her own fish, but I've been told by her and I quote."If I can't find a person who is man enough to clean my deer than I need a new hunting partner."
Now how do I handle that???

Why you'd better take her by the hand and
Just tell her.........."YES DEAR"
After all she does know how to shoot. ;)

Playing the devil's advocate here!

Do you cook, do dishes, laundry, clean the house AND the bathroom, feed the dog, make the bed, pick up dirty clothes, shop for groceries, clean the refrigerator, (um I could go on here.........................)?

If you answered yes to all of the above plus....

She can clean her deer. :p

My wife shoots them and normally I clean them.

Not because she is unable to field dress her deer, but mainly because I enjoy it a lot more than she does.

I cut up, she packages and the meat is in the freezer in no time.

I clean my own deer, but I'm slow and sometimes the young guys get impatient and want to take over. My husband doesn't care how long I take. He's happy to let me do it myself. He doesn't like the smell.

I would be more than glad to clean the deer for my wife if she would just go hunting and take one.

Oh Well,
Sounds like I'll just keep that warm to the elbow feeling.
After all now that she likes to go hunting with me, I find that I just have to suffer and take her hunting every weekend.
Sure makes my life tough. Ha Ha.
Only 11 1/2 weeks to go.
Can't wait

I'm w/ Steve, I'd just be happy to have my wife hunt. Besides if she did it herself where would you warm your hands up.

I do field dress my own game although I am slow at it. The way I figure if I do it all myself with no help than no one can say well you can't hunt with us anymore because we are tired of babysitting. Not all the men in the world like having a female around during hunting season. It's very sad and lonely being a huntress in the Western UP. If your a female hunter your a loner.

Born2hunt,
I understand, I was raised in Manistique in the upper till I was 17 than got and education and had to move to the big city for my type of employmnent.
I have truoble understanding how so many men can support "teach a child to hunt and fish" but do not wish to make it a compleate family affair.
I enjoy my wife with me just as much as I did my sons.
The boys have grown now but we still get together for a family outing in the north.
The main reason I'de like my wife to clean her own deer is for the experiance.
I enjoy telling the stories of the Bucks she shot just as much as she does.(Her first dressed at 172lbs.)
Don't get me wrong most men need some time alone once in a while just as women do, but to have a companion in life that shares your enjoyements is special.
Happy Hunting

I'd be honored to field dress a deer for my wife. If your wife will seek a new partner if you won't field dress her deer...I'd take her at her word :) <----<<<

Born, I am a very slow and meticulous field dresser myself. The guys I hunt with are usually saying stuff like "come on already" or "I can't stand it anymore" when they are watching me. I just don't like to go in and cut anything that I shouldn't because my number one priority is the cleaniness of the meat.

Me too, Steve! My very first deer (years and YEARS ago) was done for me. I watched, I learned, and for many years now I've done most of my deer myself --as well as my father's (my best huntin' buddy and 82 years 'young'). When I got 'my' first elk out west, I did 'request' help on that one!! I'm slower at field dressing and fileting fish than the guys, but the cleanliness of the meat is my goal, as well as preserving every tasty morsel. My husband isn't much into hunting, so much of my time afield is solo -- Born: I understand!

Hubby and I always cut, wrap, and freeze our own, but if time scheduling is a factor, sometimes I do all of that, also...it just takes me a lot longer! .... Mary

My wife doesnt hunt, although I wish she would, so I dont have any experience with this question. I would just be happy if she went hunting! I enjoy the whole experience and wouldnt expect her to do it. If she wanted to, cool, if not, no biggie.

My wife has not yet killed a deer. She has helped me track mine, and when it comes to field dressing time she mysteriously wanders away. I did hear her one time gasping at the sounds that sometimes are incurred when dressing game. I fully understand her point of view. She can't even handle uncooked meat without gagging. So, as long as she will hunt with me I'll gladly do the dirty work.

Heck I'm not a woman I'm just old and didn't learn young. I cook for the rest of the guys, and they kind of like havin me around. If one of them offers to help while I'm struggling with my deer I let him. If your wife is fun to have along, don't make her ask, offer to help. If she's no fun to have along treat her accordingly. I guess if I were a girl I'd be called bad names, cause I think everything is a trade. I do for you, maybe you do for me. By the way I can do anything anybody can do. Difference is, I don't have anything to prove and I like the trade offs in life. No macho dude here. But, by the way, don't wear deerskin in my patch of woods. Not being macho has nothing to do with ole one shot. If its a deer, in my scope, I think its adult, It better not daudle.
