anyone use that fish t.v. underwater camera system? seen it at Gander Mountain for $100 and was curious as to its longevity.Says it takes 10 C batteries not sure how that would last out there on the ice.

I got one for x-mas from the wifey. I like mine alot. Although you will need to build some little carry case, it's a pin in the butt if not. I don't use the c batteries, don't last long enough. I bought the vexilar 12 volt battery for $40 that plugs into it, it will last me two days of fishing on a charge. So far mine has worked great. Used it on inland lakes and the Saginaw river. No complaints for $100.

All cameras are the same way. Need the tripod to put over the hole. Got one at gander for 20 bucks or so. Works great now!

I would get the AQUA-VU SCOUT over that. More durable and much nicer.

Right or wrong, this is what I did, and it works fine. Cut a slot into a piece of thin plywood, a little larger than the cord. submerge camera into ice hole to desired depth, slide slot onto cord and clip on a clothspin, or some kind of clip. It will hold the camera weight and you need only to turn the clip until you get the direction you want. Basically this is the same method as the tripod, but you saved $20. They have an electric tripod. but it's pricey.

This is what I use.
Paint stick = $0.00
Small Hand clamp = $1.00
Total = $1.00
Directions: Lower the cable to desired depth, clip cable to paint stick using small hand clamp. Set the paint stick across the hole and turn until your bait is located.
