Hi Robert, I'm sorry don't have any pic's at the moment I will try to get a few from my dad. I think it's a great Idea. I remember when Walt's Bar or perhaps it was Tipp's. (Fair Haven) At onetime you could rent a john boat that was modified with a circular saw blade from a lumber mill and a good old Briggs and Stratton for the power plant. Them boats would just ripp across the ice. Back in the day before Quads.
It was in the early 70's. I would love to see a picture of one of them.

Well I found one but it's during the summertime. My Dad and my Grandma. The photo was taken around 1942 St Clair River American side just across From the Lampton Power Plant. East China Twp. In the background you can see the chrystal salt company. Hey look no sea walls.

Mooneye... Back in the very early 70's a boat exactly as you described was how Tipps(im pretty sure) took us out to the shanty rental.. Man that sawblade outboard motor thing was so cool ! Ive been telling friends about that boat
for years on end and they all think I'm either insane or making it up! Finally, a witness!! Im gonna collect on some very very old bets now!
Just wish someone knew how to build one... I'd be their first customer!
Thanks!

I hear ya icefisher, I have looked all over the web there is nothing that even resembles that fine piece of ice fishing engineering. However, I'm wondering if we did bring something like that back out on the ice would the local DNR approve of such a contraption. lol
I'm sure we could resurrect it. If we tried.

Not sure if this is considered back in the day, but it's from around '80 - '82. Photo taken on LSC (Fair Haven) behind the old Ray's Bait & Tackle.
