Hello all,

I bought a used boat off this site last fall and it has an old Honda 9.9 that seems to run very well. However the cooling water outlet at the rear of the motor doesn’t seem to piss near as hard as the one on my 9.9 Mariner that I have on my walleye boat for a kicker.

I was wondering if any of you have any experience with one of these old Hondas, and also if anyone has ever replaced the impeller on one?

Thanks for looking,

Bill

stick a coat hanger wire up the pee hole. it might be clogged.
otherwise its 5 bolts and a shift rod like this.

Thanks, this should help, I really don't think the pee hole is pluged.

I've got a 2004 Honda BF 15 that I need to replace the impeller.(it's been two years) I've ordered all the necessary replacement parts but they had to order the service manual from the factory. I can see the four 10mm bolts on the foot as well as the shift linkage. Are there any "hidden" bolts to remove? I've marked the shift linkage with a dab of paint so that I can approximate the position when I re-install the linkage. Can someone who has done this repair give me a hand? I don't want to have to "get the Big hammer" if you know what I mean...
Thanks,
John}

I found the "Fifth Bolt" just above the propeller. After removing it the foot slid right out. no problem replacing the impeller.

Just a note, I bought a set of JIS (Japanese industrial standard)screw drivers and they actually "fit" all the screws without boogering up the screw head. They're about $20 and well worth the purchase if you do your own work

Check the impeller,,, i changed one on a 9.9 honda four stroke 2 years ago,,,,no big deal, the hardest part is getting the splin and the water tube to go in at the same time, it will be frustrating at first but just walk away and go back to it in about an hour,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

If it is a newer honda it should be fairly easy (putter color). However, the older blue and white ones are alittle harder to drop the lower. Usually the shift shaft is behind Rec/Reg. and hard to get too...good luck.
