View Full Version : Gull lake smelt fishing ?
pipe dream

Was thinking about heading down to gull lake on Saturday night to try some smelt fishing. It has been a few years since I fished for them and that was up on green lake. I heard they fish mainly the south or north end of the lake for smelt so which area seems to be producing recently? Is there a certain water depth to target? Also, what is the rig of choice to catch them on gull lake? Years ago we used the Hali jigs and did quite well on green lake, does this work here as well? I have never fished this lake before so any help would be appreciated. Thanx

Went down there Wednesday night and caught 95 in 3 hours with four of us. We went out in front of the bay by the island in 60' of water. Talked to two guys coming off baseline road when we got there and then did even catch a fish. Size 14 demon glows with a hali jig was the best setup.

I have been getting around 30 each trip out off of baseline rd. It is not nearly as good as last year, but things could change. I mark tons but have trouble getting them to bite.Halis with plain gold hooks and spikes is what I am using.
