Hello all--

I am currently looking into the purchase of a new boat, my dilemma is that it has a bow rail. I really enjoy vertical jigging and my only experience is with a bow mounted trolling motor. My questions are...

I would have to have some sort of mount for the trolling motor to clear the bow rail--has any one ever seen such a mount??

Or.. how does it compare bow mount VS transom mount for the electric trolling motor?

As far as I know these are my 2 options. If I can get away with a transom mount and not have to attempt to rig up some kind of mount to attach it to the bow, that is the easy road, but I want very good boat control and not experienced in this transom mount motor to know if I can achieve that. I will take the hard road for better boat control, just want some advice if anyone has any :)

thanks--ER

it is a 19.5 foot Triumph. It does have a high bow rail. I like the look of the rail and dont want to cut it out, just need to work around it.

Kathleen, I got the same situation with my big boat. I do have a electric on my main motor. It will work unless the wind is strong enough to push the bow around. Thats gonna be the main problem is the wind. The higher up the bow is, the more the wind will swing and push it around. You will be constantly adjusting for it. Much easier with a bow mount, especially if you have the co-pilot.

Thats why I usually use my smaller boat with the bow mount for the river.
