need help----grosse ille

going to work at grosse ille airport for a few days how the fishing down there? and where is there a good place to go? thanks

Airport bay can be a productive place to ice fish. The issue with the bay is access. The only way on the bay is walking the channel out and that is not always safe. If you can access from the airport, by all means get out there and get a line wet. Just like anywhere else, drill holes and find the fish. Its deeper out towards the flagpole on the point of Hickory and shallower with weeds towards the runway. Minnows, wigglers and waxies on small jigs would be a good way to start. Good Luck!

Heading out to Crocker area on Sat. Hope it clears up(from reports here)
May have to hit the canals. Been slow in the lake for me.
Catching lots of dinks,but thats it.

got a chance to go out today, stopped by bottom line, (bait shop) got some bait and hit up airport bay fish from 12:00 to 3pm with about 25 nice size perch. smallest fish today was maybe 8" and the average was about 12". will post pics as soon as i find my cable for my camera

You must have been coming off the ice as brdhntr and i were getting on. Did you see 2 guys and two excited kids? That was us and we sure did suck it up out there! I caught 1 and a half fish (one dink got off at the hole) and brdhntr only got one bite. Saw fish being caught all around us but we just couldn't connect.

yes, on our way out we talked to one guy who has a fish finder and he said neither he or you were doing any good and we told him where to go.
I'll be back there in the morning i'll have a wooden box sled.

We moved around that whole area until dark with no luck. I fished out of easily 10 holes...

Being a glutton for punishment, my buddy talked me into going back. One of the guys from yesterday was there with 20 or so decent fish and he said they shut down about 2 hrs before we got there. Fished that area, hopping holes, and caught a big mudpuppy for my efforts. Started moving west, and finally caught a couple fish. Had 3 fish in the last 20 minutes of light, and that was it.

we went out this morning from 7 am to 3pm and i only had 14 fish. i moved all over the bay, i was the guy behind you when you got that mudpuppy on the tip up, today sucked. i'll try to make it out agian later on in the week.
