Algonac / Walpole Ferry Running

Anyone know if the ferry is running fr: Algonac to Walpole? Need to figure the quickest way to get to Mitchell's Bay - Bass Haven, St. Lukes for the weekend!!??

Went Saturday, had to go Marine City cause Algonac was closed. Went again on Sunday afternoon, Algonac was open. Google "Algonac Ferry" and go to the website, it will clearly tell you if its running.

It is open by the way. Lined up with trucks loaded with quads every morning.

You need to check it day by day it all depends on the ice coming down some days it runs some it don't and some it will run in the morning and not in the afternoon or vis versa.

I wanted to go to Mitchells too, is there anything special you need to cross on either of those ferrys, I've never been? Passport, Birth Certificate, etc?

You need a passport or a drivers lic with birth cert.

By the way if the ice coming down is bad the Marine city ferry won't run either so the blue water bridge is your way over.

On the rare occasion the Marine City ferry will close but it is VERY rare. Its much more likely that the Algonac Ferry will close.

Lots of sheet ice coming down.

Crossed @ Marine City around 7pm tonight. It was a struggle getting across. Ferry workers were not too optimistic about tomorow being able to run.

Best call ahead or check their web site.

Algonac Ferry was down all day.

...headin out of St. Lukes in a windy snow tomorrow am with a buddy...hope we can find some perch...gonna try to start around 3.5 miles out...will let ya know how we do...anyone know of any cracks to watch out for?

By the way, a passport helps to get across either ferry but I don't think they are mandatory yet...birth certificate and social security card along with ID will still work??

You dont need a passport to get to Canada..just your other Id.
