Here are a few pictures of some recent guitar spring bobbers I permanently attached to a couple of rods. Technically, I could take them off but it would be a pain in the ***. I will probably have to though because the guitar strings will rust. That's why I ordered some stainless and titanium for the next round.

Here are a couple side by side in green and gold

And one from the top

These things work awesome, IMO.

Is that the high e string? I've thought about doing that, but they're so cheap to buy that I don't really want to and my guitars don't need new strings. Plus I want mine to be removable. Either way, very cool and a great thing to do on a rainy winter day!

It looks like a low E or A or maybe a D, not a high E.

A couple questions. How do they act with a fish on? String life after catching some fish? and do the hold there form well?

Definately not a low A. My guess is it's a G-string:lol:

I put all my wire bobbers on with hot glue. Very easy to remove and replace, but does not look quite as tidey as thread and clear coat. Takes about 30 seconds to install.

They are totally out of the way with a fish on. Past a certain point, the rod takes over:

They keep their form well so far even after quite a few fish. My earlier prototypes did rust pretty bad. I would not recommend actual guitar strings if you are going to permanently attach them like this. I just ordered some 0.013" (my preferred size so far - B string, BTW) spring grade SS in very small quantity and it still came out to about $0.75/bobber. I'm even going to try some titanium for ultimate corrosion resistance that still comes out to less than $1/bobber. Like CC said, there are much easier ways to do it but I enjoy it and had all the stuff sitting around the house. I think they look pretty sharp too and they are the best spring bobber I've ever used.
