I myself have not fished over there so I don't know where he is parking and I didn't ask.
My dad was back yesterday also and saw no spud so someone has it. When he left it behind he came off the ice late and it was dark.
Anyway the fishing report for yesterday was not good. He didn't catch a single fish and said nobody else had any either.
I didn't ask ice conditions.
The spud I made in highschool 30 years ago. I was giving my dad heck for losing an antique.

Yup he is 80 and has a couple augers. By choice he takes the spud. He said the ice is not thick enough for a auger. This spud was in the middle of the three he had for total weight. He liked it best for the ice conditions. He walks out and drags his shanty behind him.
He still bowhunts from trees. Guts and drags his own deer. Argues with me if I'm there when he shoots one because I want to use the quad. Hunts turkey ( called his own in last year and shot it. Record book but not entered......he don't care about records.).
Last December he was the oldest Michigan Elk Hunter, who shot the oldest elk and we did the hunt on our own...NO GUIDES. Get this... We walked them up. HE shot the cow the third evening of the hunt with me looking over his shoulder.
Did I mention he has his own 18 foot Lund Tyee and will fish alone if needed.
I spend as much time as I can with him doing what we like. I have to work though so he goes alone.
Long story short, Yes he does ROCK!
Now lets find this heirloom spud LOL

Nothing recovered yet. He has been back out but the perch have not been co-operating. Getting enough for a meal but thats it. Iw as going to meet up with him and my 10 year old. My dad called before we were to leave and said no bites out of three guy's in a few hours so we stayed home.
Anyway we hunt and fish as much as we can together. Come spring walleyes we will be on the river then the lake. May will find us tag teaming on the turkeys and re-working some food plots. June will be the lake and then some erieau steelhead and a few lake Mi salmon trip.
Mid September placing tree stand and getting ready, October through Christmas we will be chasing deer every weekend and then some.
Hope this keeps up for long time !!!!!

Was that spud painted yellow by chance?

Last I saw it, it was silver.
3/4 inch solid rod handle with a coupling in the middle. We used to be able to take it apart and store it in the sled. The coupling ended up being welded because the threads broke. About 5 to 5 1/2 foot tall. Screw eye on the top end. Hardened wedge style cutting edge.
