I'm up at school and cant make it home every weekend to fish the waters that I know. I did a little research and found lake ovid which from what I've read is a "dead sea".I am stuck at what to try next. I'm trying to find some lakes close to Owosso. If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated. I'm just trying to find a lake to ice fish between classes.......if anyone wants to let me in please e-mail me jskrzypchak@hotmail.com Thanks!

sorry to say:(, the only public waters in shiawassee county are hopkins lake and the river. hopkins is full of stunted panfish and pike. I fish Indian lake or any number of lakes in northern livingston co. or gennessee county. manitou lake is a good producer but private. I check out the satilite on weather.com to look for new waters to fish. Byron mill pond is a possibility but I haven't heard a good report on it in years. wish I could be more hopeful but you have to travel a bit if your going to fish. Don

I live near sleepy hollow but i too am up at school in mt. pleasant. Theres a lake called Round Lake which isnt more than 3 miles from sleepy and is usually a pretty decent lake for gills and pike. Havnt fished it in quite a while but theres usually someone out there that you could talk to to head you in the right direction. Also theres a bait shop right on the lake where you can get al your minnows and wax worms and so more info on where the fish are biting at. Its a little bit of a drive but sounds like that might be ur only choice. Oh and my grandma owns Dedics bar just north of Owosso and im there quite a bit visiting her ill shoot ya pm next time i stop in and we can have a few beers and talk fishing. Good Luck

scripman, your best bet is Round Lake. It is a pretty good lake. It has been very spotty this year but may pick up as last ice is coming soon. Like blittle said Dons Party store is right where you pull in to park. They have everything you will need. also alot of little pike if you like to run after some flags. Nice bluegill and crappie if they are biting.

Boy, i know how he feels, lived in the dewitt and lansing area all my life and fished all the lks around here. Round,park,sleepy,fox-knoll,lk lansing alward, muskrat, (Victoria, senics lk if you have permission) and after awhile they get old not much of a diversity of fish, yes you might hit a hot streak of fish but same ol same ol. Best ive ever done is lk lansing on specks 12-14ichers one time about 12 yrs ago. Victoria has walleyes in it seen them caught but a private lk but i have friends and a uncle that lives on it. Now when i fish i go North but once in awhile il fish around here like i did when i was a kid. I wonder way DNR dosent stock walleyes in lk lansing lots and lots of small perch for food Jst a ?. Good luck all....
