Bought a new aqua vu camera last week. I was all excited to try it out last saturday on hubbard lake. It worked good, but didn't see many fish, in fact, I only saw one smallie swimming on the bottom of the lake. Upon finishing up a skunk-filled morning chasing eyes, I came off the ice. About 150 yards from shore my ratchet strap pulled free, and I saw my aqua vu, fishing bucket and Mr.Heater tip forward. Instincts caused me to lock up the breaks, but it was too late. All the gear tumbled off and under my front tires. When the dust settled I had one destroyed aqua vu, 2 broken rods, one broken real, two broken tips up, and a busted Mr. Heater. Not a good way to start the weekend, thats for sure.

You could always jam the cam back in the box and return it. Tell them it was that way when you bought it:D

yea ice fishing is either very cheap - old pole and a bucket or very expensive. I broke my bumper on my sled pulling it into the bed of my truck. Looks like $50 + shipping for a new one.

Talked to aqua vu today, and its going to cost me $100 to fix. Not what I was hoping, but the camera itself is fine, its the monitor that is, well, DESTROYED. Guess this is a good lesson, put your stuff in a milk crate, or on the back rack.

I'm pretty sure that any monitor will work (12 volt) and are far cheaper than a c-note, might want to check with hightech37 he has the lowdown in this area.

Did you break any brown bottles and get glass all over the lake? Hey, just kidding Chuckinduck! Sorry to hear about that. Hope that's not the way that it works out for you in "08". But on the other hand....... it might give others an edge on the 2nd Annual Revenge of Nessy Challenge this summer.
Just think of the spare parts ya got now.........At least it wasn't me this time........ Good luck with the fix.

Real Funny, but I drink cans on the ice, just for that reason. You want to know what the bottom of hubbard looks like in 35 fow? Sand, sand and more sand w/ zebra mussels scattered around. I'll have the replacement parts by next week, so don't get that mantle dusted off just yet. $100 to fix that boo boo.

That is why my friends dad Mr. Stevens invented and placed about a hundred or so fish reefs, with ok from the state. They are located in about 9-24 feet of water all over the lake. Hard to find in winter without summer gps numbers but they kind of look like giant milk crates and provide cover for baitfish. The larger fish hang in those areas as well. That and a couple well known weed beds. They can be a problem when trolling, very well weighted.

Sounds to me the Aqua View was defective-you fished all day and didn't see many fish on it. I'd just take it back for a refund:evil:

Contact Mr. Buddy, you should get a new one.
A few years back my brother, E-Man, Mr. Buddy fell off the sled and was dragged a few hundred yards under the tow sled. Basically destroyed. He contacted them about parts and took his name and address. About a week or so later a brand new Mr. Buddy showed up at his door:eek:. No cost to him at all. A couple days later, UPS showed up to pick up the old one. No Lie! It was totally his fault and they replaced it anyway!
PM him if you want more info.
Good Luck!!

Yep, I've hooked many a fish shelter in the summer, and dive on them in the summer, plenty of baitfish/perch holding around those, even bass and walleye.

No kidding?! Wow, thats good customer service. Maybe I should forward that to Aqua Vu. IN all honesty, Aqua VU was very accomodating, and helpful, and I accept responsibility, so I don't have a problem paying, I don't like it, but its my fault.

Actually there's in excess of 500 shelters in the lake. All were supposed to be in at least 15' of water. There's one on the west side that's got about $200 worth of my baits attached to it . And yes..... I do have it marked on the GPS, but for some reason, I always get too close. I finally just stopped fishing around it. But......... it was always good for a fish of some kind......... 17' exactly.
