OK fellas. These are the bait shops I have in my area:
Holden's Party Store - 1 doz. = 12 minnows
Archer's and Anglers - great shop very generous out of big shinners (6"-10")
Mitchell's Bait - great shop very generous out of big shiners
KD Outdoors- one of my favorites but had probably the worst experience ever this weekend when my good buddy went to get larger sized bait. The prices were varying per chub!! Some young kid in there. One bad experienced wrecked our day of great fishing (we needed those larger chubs for a great pike bite). Sorry fellas at KD. We'll be back in there but not for a while hopefully next time is better. When chubs are at a fixed price that's what we expect and in order to not catch bass every five minutes we would rather have larger chub's keying in on pike. Chubs were from $2.75 to $1.09 depending on size they were priced as the guy pulled them out of the tank it was like an auction and they weren't decoys which have there own price. VERY DISAPPOINTED.
ANYWAYS...I need to locate big suckers 8" prefered or shiners the same size. Anyone have any good places to get them everyone seems to be out thanks. I will travel a ways out from milford to get them. Thank You Fellas. Sorry to voice a bad experience at a normally great shop.

I had a few small decoys in the tanks this weekend.....the average price for these, 10" and up, was about $2.50....but yes, the prices do vary on decoys...I had a couple this weekend that were around 16" and a couple of lbs.

The rest of the suckers/chubs are running real small right now, they are all hatchery raised, and they do not have big ones, due to the VHS dilemna and the certification process.
You may be out of luck finding bigger ones in the area....however, I have been getting some nice goldies in the 6" range.

I apologize for the treatment you received, but here is what i think happened:

You came in this weekend at a real busy time, and there is a young kid with dark hair who hangs around the shop, but does not work for me, however, if we are real busy, he will try and help out here and there.
My guess is that you dealt with him, and sometimes, he is clueless, but his intentions are good.

I am glad you listed us as "one of your favorites", and I want to continue to be.
Please look me up personally next time you come, remind me of this situation, and I promise I will make things right.

We're not perfect, and I can't please everyone, but I will try my damnedest....just 1 unhappy customer ruins my day, and I take Customer Satisfaction VERY seriously.

My apologies, and thank you for your continued support.

Ken I appreciate the explanation. It was busy and I figured that it was due to that. We just really got ripped on the deal. None the less it costed us a nice afternoon of fishing after scoring on a 36" 15.5 lb. 32" and a hammer handle we were looking forward to getting larger bait like we had for those fish to continue the large trend. Instead we got bass the rest of the afternoon. (I shouldn't be complaing I was still fishing). I apologize for the outrage you guys do have all the colors I can't find at a lot of stores THANKS!! Plus everyone should try to support local business. By the way usually it's such a pain to have someone find you large chubs usually we offer to dig them out ourselves to save the trouble for you so don't think we're stealing bait just trying to be curtious. Thanks for the prompt response and we will return.

Locations of shops

KD Outdoors- M59 and williams lake road AAAAAAAAA+++++++Great Store
Mitchell's Bait- Duck Lake Road on white Lake next to the state launch.A+++ on bait (very healthy)
Anglers and Archers- Benstein rd. between maple and loon lake road. AAAAAAAAAAAAAA++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Great Store
Holden's party Store- Milford Road accross from Kensington entrance get one of the owners to get you bait other wise you will get a kid who has never fished and counts 12 minnows in your bucket. ( must not realize bait shops purchase by the gallons not dozens) Also make sure you ask for a receipt they don't give them wilingly and you have to have it. kid-EE-- Owners- A+(still a small dozen minnows)

I am not trying to harm anyones reputation just posting my opinion after fishing 22 years in the milford area for every species that is offered. If you have another bait shop that suites you better I sure would like to hear about it so I can try it out. Just trying to help people plan a route out from work to pick up bait on their way to work. Thanks for the heads up on th Gander Mountain in Novi I like going to the smaller shops but if I can only find what I need there I will go there.

How do I insert pictures??? I got a decent pic of the 32" and a great one of th 36" but was taken with a darn cell phone.

No need I know you're a great shop and I will continue to stop before every tournament in the summer. Your explanation is sufficient enough. Some things just happen at the wrong times. We can all relate. Thank You for your concern It shows a lot of passion for your business and is a very admirable thing. It also sounds like the fella behind the sizing and pricing is a good guy just trying to help (we didn't know). Tell him we're sorry for the attitude.

I buy bait at Holdens and haven't had a problem. They pick through the spikes to get rid of any bad ones and I usually end with more than the count. I don't buy a lot of minnow but counts are usualy good. I only buy perch minnows so I can't speak for pike bait. Ask for 2 dozen and get maybe 4. I must just be lucky and get the "good" employees.

1st you have to be a paying member of this site (well spent money!), photos from your cell phone need to be e-mailed to your e-mail address and than upload them from your computer to a web hosting site like photobucket.com (free site) and than upload them to your post here, if it sounds hard it really isn't

Not true on the paying member[sponsoring member]this just give you more room in your personal gallery and more space in your PM box....and may be some other benny's[not sure what they are]...
1st you must have 15 post before posting a picture. a thread... but you still can enter it in the main gallery, and some one can post it for you. so when you get 15+ post down load your pictures... the space is small for non sponsoring members, but you still can add and delete them at any time...
I did this for awhile and then I just became a sponsoring member....
go tohttp://www.michigan-sportsman.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=54
it should explain how to enter your photos and post them in a thread....
its not hard....
