 Went to Selfridge today. Should have gone to Metro. First time ever getting skunked out there. We turned right out of the Selfridge channel and went half way to Belle Maer Marina/ Mack N' Rays. Had the Aquaview down one of the holes and saw some of the smallest perch ever. My minnows were bigger than the perch. Atleast at Metro we saw a few hogs come in every once in a while. So far this year even when the hogs come in they are very reluctant to strike. We have have used our hole arsenal from tear drops or Rapellas tipped with minnows, waxies, wigglers, and Jensen eggs. We have caught barely enough to make a meal for 3 so called good days.

Anyone interested in throwing some g.p.s. coordinates my way, my dad and I would appreciate it. I would definately return the favor in the future. We are kind of limited to the Metro Beach, Selfridge, Fair Haven areas due to the size of our homemade shanty. We basically need a boat launch preferably somewhere off Jefferson.

Thank you in advance,
skunked again

Thanks for the response. I have always done well at Ginos in the past 2 years. However I cant get past that frozen bud bog they call a launch with my new shanty. If you don't mind, where have you had your luck this year???

But over all pretty good for me this year, no complaints. I mainly use hard beads between 16 and 9 mile. I usually start just outside the crowds. The best area for me is the weed beds just south of Ginos before Beacons Cove. Instead of parking Ginos, try Jimmy's and the new taxi service. seeyalater

I would say its been a real hit or miss year with me 3 out of dozen times I have did ok with last friday being my best day of the season when I finaly got my 1st limit of good size perch.I have spent more time on the ice this year than the last year but my catch ratio for larger fish has been better.Seems like the better fishing has been during the week days when the volume of people and machines is down.

Dinks, dinks, and more dinks! I did well first ice at Venetian, crappies and perch. Since then I don't think I've filleted more than 25 perch. I haven't taken the camera out but on my Lowrance x67C you can see the screen turn red and yellow and blue, all kinds of colors, but nothing of size will bite.

Went out Saturday in front of Gino's, won't pay for parking in that mud pit again. Anyway, my son (MuskyHunter) caught 17 fish within 15 feet of me. I caught ZERO.
Sunday we went out from New Baltimore, not much happening. Left there and went to Crocker. I caught around 35 perch, only one a marginal keeper. Gave it away on our way back in. BTW, I smoked him (my son) Sunday like he did to me Saturday. I was pulling dinks one after another and he wasn't catching squat. About 15 feet away.

He did catch a parking ticket at Crocker though. And the ice was getting busted up at the launch.

Mike after experiencing the mudpit last year I decided right then I was never paying to park there anymore.Theres another mudpit accross from Jimmys also but if you tell him your not paying to park in the mud he will let you park at the baitshop parkinglot.

Aaron, you must have been there when he opened the store. There's only two parking spots available in front.

Doesn't Jimmy's have only 5 or 6 spots in front of his store?

Thanks,

venetian is the name of the street next to it. there is a small parking lot across south river rd.you need to travel light 'cause you have to climb down into the canal.

hell of a year for me...you just need to chase them around alot for example one day ill get them at genos the next day i find them in conger bay,Id say for me the larger fish (10+) have been coming relatively easy I just cant seem to stay on them all day though.

I am with you Mike. I mostly sit and wait. I have had good days and bad days this season. I am happy to say that most of my outings have been good.

I am convinced fishing only on the weekends makes for bad fishing. Last year I had most Fridays off from work and did very well for perch and walleye. This year I have only been able to fish on weekends and fishing is much much slower with all that pressure and I try to fish away from the crowds.

I'm convinced that LSC just makes you pay your "due's",,,, before she starts givin' up big catches of big fish. I was a gluton for punishment,, I fished LSC for 3 or 4 seasons without ever coming home with 10 fish or more,, and they were all 8 or 9"ers at that. Finally,,, I just started movin',,,,,, then I'd move some more. The more time I put in,,, the more she started givin' up the fish.

I dont know....seem like those days are few and far inbetween for me this year. Not sure what the hay Im doing wrong...one horrible year so far for me. Think Ive brought enough home for 3 meals this year.... out of about 12 trips.

Works about to about $300 a # I think.

Still got time...Im not going to hang it up yet this year....but I am starting to get a little more PO about it.

The continuous muddy water isn't helping you any.
Every time the lake starts to stabilize, we get a thaw, or a blow, or something that stains the water. I know the mud is sure killing me...

I agree with the stained water 100%.I think only twice out of the twenty or so times I've been out its been fairly clean.I have yet to fish in gin clear water yet!!

It was good for the front end of the season at Cotton. The worst part is that there are only a couple days left with the equalizer!!! (spear):(

I've officially changed my stance on the stained water deal this year. If the fish are there,,, they'll bite. I was out last week, 3 or 4 times,, and at the most you could see down about 3 foot,, 90% of the time only down about a foot. The water looked like pea soup. As I would drop a bait down,, at least half of the fish would come screaming up off the bottom and CRUSH that bait at around 3 to 3.5 foot. Very rarely do I see fish move that fast on the Vex. It was obvious they could see that bait.
