 I haven't heard anyone talking about St. Luke's for perch or Stoney Point/Gracie Sideroad so far. Is anyone fishing out there and how's it going?

That is because it has been not so hot.

The water over there has been extreamly dirty in those areas. The only place they are catching perch is off the tree line at Mitchells in 4 ft of water. Too many people, and too shallow of water for me.......We opted for Saginaw Bay, 7 guys 2 days, over 50 Walts caught.......Average size 2 to 4 pounders......

Thanks for the heads-up Mushy. It appears Saginaw is smoking right now with some whoppers too. I heard reports of limits 4-8 lbs. Why trouble yourself with the border crossing when you can go north here. Problem for me is that I don't know anyone familiar with Saginaw/Linwood and certainly wouldn't fish out there without a guide.

I completely understand where your coming from, that was my first trip up on the bay, and its a BIG one.......Snow, Fog, etc., comes in, you have to think fast up there. Hopefully we get one more trip out of it before the ice is gone.
I wish this economy would pick up, I really need my own Bike.....Going on other peoples Programs, really sucks. But you have to Learn somehow.....

Fished Back Bay and deep off of Lukes yesterday. 18 fish. Found some clean water out deep but within two hours it muddied up:dizzy:. Fish are there as usual we just need the water to clean up.

Same here, got 36 fish Saturday, a dozen in a couple of hours yesterday afternoon. About the same area in 12 ft of water. You had to work for them but there's some hogs out there!

Mushy, you can consider yourself lucky you had so much success, there are lot's of Saginaw Bay locals including myself, who are having a tough go of it. Ton's of fish below, but will not bite. Haven't been able to put a hurt'n on em yet. A couple years ago we went down to St. Luke's and did well and I have been wanting to get back there so bad, it is just hard to leave the Bay (Saginaw) to do it.

Yeah, I was thinking about going back up there this week, but its hard finding people to go with the economy in the toilet.....I think the key to our success up in Saginaw was, drilling holes, and waiting out the schools. We didnt get them fast and furious, but every 1/2 hr. 45 min. you would get one. And not losing them at the hole is another key. The first night, last Friday, we moved around too much, like perch fishing. And when we came back to our original holes, 2 guys in our party stayed and caught 8 fish, where as i moved and only caught 2 and lost a SLOB. Hot bait for me was the #5 black and silver Rap, with an anis red ball, and a minnow head. Others had luck on the medium Buck shot spoon by N.L.

Before i went up there, i read a couple post on Downsizing baits, and that seemed to be the ticket aswell. Good luck, it should just get Better and better and the fish congregate in Pre-Spawn modes.......They gotta eat sometime.....

It usually always is slow in February, but the numbers of fish we are seeing vs. the ones that bite are just unbelievable. Maybe it has always been that way, this is the first year I have used a camera often. I have fished with a vexilar for 15 years and always thought if you hadn't marked any fish there weren't any around. I found out different this year, I have seen many fish cruising out of my cone that would not come to my baits on several occasions. The Bay and wally's are funny like that, you don't know weather to hunt em up, or wait em out. We mostly just fish the a.m. and p.m. bite, through the years we have done well enough not to sit out there all day for the slower action. Of course we live a few miles away. The worst thing about the fishing this year is you can be 50' from someone in your own group who does well, and you might only see a couple fish, that always happened occasionally, just seems to happen a lot more this year. Just gonna keep pluggin away!
