I am looking to go on a guided whitetail hunt this fall and would really like to pour the money back into michigan's economy, so I was wondering if anyone knew some good whitetail guides in Michigan. I'm just trying to get a list of all possible fair chase outfitters.
I also was wondering if anyone has ever done a buffalo hunt in michigan and was wondering if they are at all challenging.

Check this place out, www.deertracksranch.com (http://www.deertracksranch.com) . (http://www.Deer) Located south of Kalkaska. It is fenced in area but 1600 acres is a lot of area. The fence along N Sharon road is almost 3 miles long.

Scout, he asked for fair chase, not fenced.

There used to be 2 "fee" farms that I was aware of because I recall people who used them. There was one around Ludington and another near Cadillac.

They weren't outfitters, just farmers who'd let you hunt for a fee. Basically they had large farms and you could go sit in one of their rifle blinds for like $500 on Nov.15-16 and like $100-200 a day after that. I don't know if they had bow stands.

But neither of these places were "trophy" places by any means. They killed mainly NLP spikes and forks. The guys I knew that went there were older peers of my father and were of the age that sitting on a stump on public land wasn't going to happen. They were both in their late 70's/early 80's and paying to sit in a nice blind wasn't an issue.

Both gentlemen are now dead, so I can't ask. I do believe, however, now these same guys would just go to Iowa or IL. The Midwest outfitter industry was pretty non-exist back then. These guys did go to Texas every year, however.

But if you want a nice, warm, dry blind to sit in on Nov.15, on private land if you don't have any access to private land, $500 for firearms opener seems reasonable.

Maybe try a google search for Ludington/Mason county or Cadillac/Wexford county deer hunting/guide/outfitter?

Unfortunately, all you may now get is high fence places.

You may want to look at the sponsors of this site and pour some money back into the businesses that keep this running

What are you looking to shoot and HOW much are looking to spend. I know we have three SW lower Michigan leases and I know one lease that might not be hunted on NOV. 15th weekend. It has bruisers on it, and I may work something out if you are interested. PM me if you do.

What are you looking for in this hunt? B&C, P&Y class deer? Any deer you can get a shot at? Are you a new hunter and hoping a guide will help you tag your first buck? Or are you looking for a guide to get off public land and into some private ground to up your chances?

Thunder River Outfitters can probably help you out, they are a site sponsor and can be found under the View Our Sponsors link at the top of the page.

Having said that, if I were looking to hunt in MI, the money is better spent on a lease, IMHO. If I wanted an outfitted hunt, it would not be in MI, because I would be looking at a good to fair chance of taking a P&Y class or bigger animal in a 5 day period.

Nettie Bay Lodge.

Check out their website link I pasted below. I've heard nothing but great things about them. Camp like atmosphere, good people, good food, and great Deer hunting. Oh, and I think they are very reasonable with price too.

In fact, Michigan Out of Doors TV hunted there opening day of rifle season in 2006 and filmed some of the guys hunts.

The hunters are very active in helping with food plots and other deer hunting prep stuff throughout the summer.

I've never been there but my friend has, two years in a row now and he will probably make it tradition for him and his son. And he is a hard core deer hunter, so if he likes it, it has to be good all the way around.

I know of this place only because i drive by it often. It does fit your criteria of free ranging deer. The area is awesome looking and they claim to have 2500 acres of private land. Thats all i know about it.
