I have been reading articles on this but i'm still a little lost on the whole idea. I have one of those Pontoon Boats and Do i need a water-craft license to float down the river. If I do where do i get one, how much are they, and are they good for every river? Thanks alot,
kevin

I have very little experience with this but my understanding was that you only need a permit to use a National Forest launch for commercial purposes. I was a little curious about this myself and look forward to hearing from someone in the know.
You'll need a watercraft permit until September 10 (I think). Pick them up at the Baldwin Ranger Station. They're free if you pick them up the day of your float, $2 to reserve them.
You'll also need a parking permit for the Federal access sites. There's a fee pipe you can use ($3), or buy a $20 annual pass.
