Hello to all. I have been fly fishing for steelhead seriously for about 8 years now. I am always looking for new techniques and methods to help me get more hook ups. I am the type of person that does as much reseach about any given thing before jumping into it. For the past year or so I have had center pin fishing on my brain. I have been peeping in on this forum lately, trying to get what I can. I have learned a lot, and I thank all of you. Now my question; what advice you would give to a person before they dive in to center pin fishing? The thing, of things you wish you knew before getting started. I can’t wait to get started, and I appreciate any and all help. Good luck to all!

I would suggest getting the feel for float fishing with a spinning rod first. That is my one piece of advice for people who are considering jumping on the "bandwagon".

Casting. A lot of guys put the pin down because of it. Just stick with it. I still suck at it. Gonna learn the Wallis cast next.

The very best info anyone could give you right now.
You don't NEED a centerpin to float fish,it just makes things a little bit more interesting to break up the old stale "routine".
It is fun, though. No drag,no gear multiplication, just you and the fish one on one.Highly addictive.
