Hope you can throw me a bone.
I've been a fan of Lowrance for over 20 years and have/had 3 of the LMS units over the years. I was about to mount an older LMS 350 on my riverboat only to notice several vertical lines in the display along with "issues" with the temp sensor. That unit was really overkill and much to large for the deckspace.
I started looking at some of the compact units on the market. All I really need is something simple/cheap with basic depth and temperature functions and hopefully a large cone angle. Do to the mounting angle it would also need to be as waterproof as possible since pooling could be an issue. No GPS, no color...
Would an Eagle 245 DS fit my bill?

Thanks

I'm not SWF Ralf , but I might be able to fill in for them!!
I've had some issues with the seals going south on some of the Eagles I've owned in days gone by.... NEVER on a Lowrance unit (albeit surely is possible)
The 83 Khz beam offers a wider cone than the 200 Khz does , that said - if you're a Lowrance FanBoi ... go ahead , BUT!!!! if you're interested - the Lowrance X50DS (http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0038175018288a&type=product&cmCat=SEARCH&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&QueryText=x50&N=4887&Ntk=Products&Ntx=mode+matchall&Nty=1&Ntt=x50&noImage=0)houses the same dual beam output with what I think is better build & features quality.
My friend Timdog runs one on the bow and while it's no X125 , it serves him well for temp & depth.

I think Humminbird offers a tri beam at a low price point WITH temp..... You might also consider THIS UNIT. (http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/item-link.jsp_A&_DAV=SEARCH-cat602011&id=0044894018987a&navCount=1&podId=0044894&parentId=cat602011&masterpathid=&navAction=push&catalogCode=IJ&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat602011)
Three beams = WIDE coverage.
:fish2:
Humminbird has REALLY upped the quality since Johnson Outdoors took over.
:)
Give these folks a bump , they'll do ya right on a Lowrance.....

Ralph I too am a lowrance fan but have found on my sled a flasher works much better. Response is faster than a graph and shallow water function is better, probably why you still see them on the bow of alot of serious bass boats.

Thanks Robert and sorry about the reversal
I figured you'd hook me up! Hello Lowrance, Please send me a X50DS...lol
Mike, I hear ya on the flashers, but I'm leaning toward something with temp. Finding coldwater plumes has its benefits during the dog days. With today's cheap multi-function compact units they're hard to pass up.

Shoeman,
I just bought a Eagle Cuda 240 s/GPS from the local Gander Mountain that was on close out for $99.00. My final cost was $89.99 with additional help from $10 Gander Bucks card I had from a DU Dinner.
Regular price was $199, it was unopened and place on clearance shelf.
I am not a big fan of Eagle and it only has 240x120 Res... But, it is just perfect for switching between my 14 and 16 Aluminum Boats and includes a GPS (minus the plotter function) which will backup the handheld Magelland Unit I have.
Make sure you check the clearance areas at Cabelas and Gander. Besides this unit I bought a Garmin GPS Map 162 for 21' Walkaround. Granted it is a Monochrome GPS PLotter it works well for a $100.

Sounds like you STOLE that unit :D
As for the D50, it must be a new unit in the Lowrance line-up. None of the local stores have it yet. It's available On-Line, but I might just wait a couple of weeks and see if Gander/BP get their shipments and go from there

It came out last yr. RalF.....
Probably just stock is low around town.
Not like there's any hurry for it now though!!

Ralf would launch in a blizzard as long as the ramp is doable.
