Until the start of the Iditarod: http://www.iditarod.com/

Most of us here can appreciate the athletes our dogs can be, and can appreciate the work, time, and effort it takes to bring out the potential that each dog possesses. If you can view it, the short video 2008 Iditarod Preview is great! (http://www.iditarod.com/flashmap/free/video_E0F3AADA-3FFF-1FD7-BFD5A61EDB31B795.html)

BTW, I'm rooting for Rachael Scdoris, her book No End in Sight (http://www.rachaelscdoris.com/)has been a real inspiration for our family in dealing with our daughter's similar situation.

Hope you get a chance to follow the action!

I like to follow the race every year. It's really incredible what these teams go through to compete in this event.

Some of those dogs actually have some bird dog in them. Here's a quote from this Alaskan Husky page on Cabela's site:
http://www.cabelasiditarod.com/runyan_husky.html

"Finally, I asked my panel of experts to look forward to the Millenium and the future of the Alaskan husky. In 1999, Swedish born mushers Egil Ellis and Helen Lundberg campaigned a team of Sailor bred Alaskan huskies crossed with English Pointer and German Shorthair, and so thoroughly dominated the major North American sprint racing circuit, that it appears inevitable the Alaskan husky has once again been redefined.

Ric Swenson has been experimenting for several years with crosses to a Forstehr shorthair he purchased in Norway, while Doug Swingley has contacted his friends in the American Field Trial circuit for a suitable American bred All-Age English Pointer."

Bob Wehle was known to put his pointers in harness and I believe he actually won some races.
