View Full Version : Bluegill eatun perch

Last week brother and i really got into the nice perch .... all the big ones had small bluegills in there stomachs.....bought some bluegill type jigs to try tomorrow...will post how i do....will be tryin Cotton in the mornin hopefully the water has cleared :confused:..........see ya on the pond :D

Perch eating Bluegills is not uncommon. They will also eat smaller perch.

Most of the big ones we catch near grassbeds have bluegills in their stomachs. It's a good sign - when they're eating shiners it's "boom or bust". Bluegills are more reliable. They live in those grassbeds everyday.

True about perch eating baby perch. Out of the 200 my buddy and I brought back from simcoe, prolly 50% of the perch had baby perch in them. and some also had goby's in them also....

I've caught perch with 4" walleye fingerlings sticking out of thier mouths.

The bluegill jig worked great ......although not sure if it was becaue it lookd lik a bluegill or because it was glow.....caught over 100 fish on it yesterday
