Got out on a private lake today with Icefishermanmark and my two cousins. It was FREEZING!!:yikes: We spent most of the day couped up inside my 4 man Ice Cube shanty. The fishing was decent, we caught a bunch of small gills, and a couple nice sized crappie. Mark caught about a 25" pike on his ultra light rod which I got a video of. The highlight of my day was the 36", 10lb 5oz pike that I caught on a tip up. This thing had me spooled all the way and the last thing you want in this weather is a long fight with no gloves on:lol:...but it was definitely worth it, she gave me a great fight then I took a couple pics and she was released to be caught another day. It's my biggest pike thru the ice to date. Thanks again to Mark for the landing job and inviting us out there. Here are some pics and a video for you to enjoy.

This is me excited and very cold at the same time

GREAT JOB releasing that beauty!! I put one back in Wixom lake a few years back that was the same size. I love to eat fish, but give me perch or gills anyday! let those fighters get caught over and over I say

Nice fishies.

What did you guys use to anchor the fishtrap down? I just got the Pro myself and was wondering about ice anchor needs for that model.

Beautiful pike, what a hawg. And thanks from all us pike hunters on the release. Maybe you can hook up again in a few years when she's 15#. Not to mention you all are some brave folks. Too cold for me yesterday.

I didn't anchor it. It stayed in place all day, even when I wasn't in it. If it withstood yesterday then it doesn't need anchoring.

Cool, thanks. Just back to the wind, huh? I thought with the top up like that, it would want to sail away. They do have a low profile though.

Nice battle with the pike.
