Planning on heading out next sunday and im curious if any if anyone knows of any taxi services to get out on the ice? I figure by next weekend the ice should be real solid. I know last year there was a taxi being ran i just can't remember who was running it and where they ran it from. Any help would be great thank you!

An ice taxi would be a great idea and good for old farts like me who have trouble walking out very far.I know someone ran a taxi at Ginos a few years ago.

It really is a great idea. Not everyone has machines so they are limited to how far they can go. I would be very willing to pay for a ride out to deeper water!

I can't believe some one is missing out on such a great business oppurtnity. If i didn't love to fish so much and had a mule or something likeit i would be running a service like this. But instead i will be enjoying the great perch fishing:)

That's a great idea to get some "hot spots".... have a radio with ya and have guys call you when their ready to come in... Carry your GPS with ya and lock in the spots where guys were smokin' 'em.:16suspect

It would be COOL to run a taxi service! Quad with a trailer or wagon, OR an airboat !!!! but I think you would have to worry about liability if someone fell off, or got hurt.....
Too bad about that lady Donna. She had a neat set-up with that trailer... and I would have loved to find out if she had any legal problems doing that.
Best regards,
Laura

"Whoa,, whoops, sorry 'bout that,, you ok? Ok good,,, here's your 2 bucks back,, now don't sue me"
That'd be my "liability disclaimer"..

Jimmy's is currently working on setting up a taxi service on Lake St. Clair for the Gino's Bay Area. We should have everything up n running by Friday. We need to to some of our own modifications to the trailer we have, but it will be a Quad with trailer set-up, hopefully able to accomodate 8-10 people depending on circumstances. We would have had it earlier but me and my partner have been through the ice before in the quad and it is no fun, so we like to make sure there is plenty of ice before we bring the beast out. If anyone has any replies or would like contact us please feel free to call at 586-329-3811, my computer will not be around for a little while so it might take a bit before i reply online today. We hope to get it up and running by this Friday but there are no promises being made.
Hope To See Everyone Soon

Wow.
Sounds like the St.Claire fisherman have gotten the best possible service from a Sports shop they have ever had. Awesome!
Not even in the same league as anyone on the east side or maybe anywhere.
Kudos and a BIG THANK YOU;):)

Just start walking and huffing and puffing..
Sometimes that's what ya gotta do,start early and go,
I've walked the Blackhole on SagBay from Linwood before,it wasn't to bad but that's known that I was getting a ride back.
And anyone that has ever gone for Elk in the Colorado mountains, will tell you that your walk to your fishin spot is just a blip.

Yup, that's exactly it!
Taxi drops somebody off on ice, then ice turns bad and the "client" is stuck on the ice - or worse. Here comes the lawyers!

Let me get this straight...Jimmy's has a great minnow count, red bait, parking, someone helps you get your stuff on the ice and a taxi service!!!!
Seems to me the only thing missing is someone to clean the fish when I'm done catching them.:lol::lol:
Although I guess I have to give them a chance, they have only been in business for what a couple of weeks??:SHOCKED::SHOCKED:

If anyone would like or be interested in having their fish cleaned for them we have a couple guys willing to do it. We're not sure if they will do it for a small fee or as a service to our customers but we could find out the details if enough people are interested.
In Donna's case about liabiltity, I highly doubt she had coverage for doing business as a taxi service. You could knock on her door if she was there you were in luck if not Nike Express, she did it as a side gig most likeky. If people think we should have everyone sign liability waivers then we will. Once up and running the passengers will be lucky if it gets out of second gear, nice and slow is the way we go. We will most likely have a drop off and pick up point out on the ice, we don't have time to drive everyone around like Donna would, we will put you out there and you can go where you like from there. We will defintely bring people back and the taxi will STOP at any sign of bad ice, we will not leave anyone out or take anyone out on bad ice. As mentioned before we have been through the ice ourselves and don't intend on doing it again or letting any of our valued customers get stuck out on the ice. We are here to provide the best service possible and have everyones safety in mind.
Hope To See Everyone Soon without the weekend lawyers
