Angler Archer is reporting 7"-8" of snow on top of the ice. they say that the ice is only 3" underneath the snow. according to them, ice is worse than last weekend.
Shoreline Services reports 8" of ice in places. they said that there is good ice by the sand docks with lots of fish. most of the fish are small but you can sort to get a limit.
i don't know which report is right or if both are right. if anyone has a first hand report, please let us know. i'm looking to get out this weekend. dont know if it will be muskegon lake or white lake.

I was out after work last night, there is probally a good 6+ inches with half of it white ice. Some spots up to 8 inches. There is a good 3 - 6+ inches of snow/slush and water on top of the ice. many spots out in the lake are frozen but for the first 100 yards from shore we were walking in slush and water.:fish:
There is well over 3 inches of ice under the crap and after tonight I am sure the slush will freeze it was starting to lastnight around 9pm
not sure about the ice for the weekend. Current in the muskegon river has increased due to the heavy snow fall this week, opening up the lake from the river mouth to the SPX building. This has to effect the ice off of second street too. With the wind and temps that are comming this weekend, you might want to try inland and hit muskegon next week.

Man I want to hit the sand docks tomorrow but that sounds iffy to me. I guess if there's people on the ice it's all good and if not there's always Wolf lake or maybe White. I just want some perch!

Good Idea, thats what I was thinking too. Inland this week, and back to Muskegon next week.

My young son and I went to Snug Harbor this afternoon. 4" of good ice covered by at least three more inches of white stuff. Near the shore was tough walking due to the slush on top.
We got skunked! We moved a couple of times with no luck at all.

I am sure that the sand docks will have ice there was a lot last weekend. If you lower your standards you might be able to limit out on perch. Last weekend we caught at least 300 perch between the 2 of us and kept about 20 with only 1 over 8'' she was a fat 12''. Dead minnows just off the bottom worked best for us but the were pretty much hitting anything we dropped down the hole.
