heading out to merkle in the morning to set some flags for pike. wondering if anyone has ever fished this lake for panfish? any info would be appreciated. if that doesn't work probably head to 4 mile or nearby.

I am not sure I have heard of that lake? I have heard of Sugarloaf campground though. Is that lake near it?

I've been there. Pretty decent walk through the woods there. I would say at least a mile. Never fished for panfish, but I have ran out of bait for tip-ups with the pike there. I just would not be dragging a bunch of stuff with me.

As mentioned , its a good walk thru the woods, but with snow on the ground, its not a bad pull with a jet sled. The lake is fairly shallow and holds mostly pike and bass, but I have taken decent perch and gills out of there.
