Do you carry a backup / bug gun?
I like the NAA 1-1/8 barrel .22 Magnum as a back up with
CCI Gold Dot.;)

There are lots of opinions on this. For most casual citizen carry situations, a back up is highly unlikely to be necessary, in fact for most casual scenarios, a primary is unlikely to be necessary. That said, I used to carry a Browning HP with 2 spare 13 rd magazines in a belt pouch (Cor-Bon 115 gr +P), a 6 shot .38 Colt Detective special with 2 spare speed strips (158 gr LHP's) and a D/A 2 shot .38 derringer in a front strong side pocket. Along with this went a pair of Spyderco's (a Titanium Police IWB and a smaller 3" on the pocket) and typically a can of pepper spray plus a small AA mag-lite on a keyring to act as a Kuboton in a last ditch effort of hand to hand. Now some reading this might think - d@$% - that's a lot of hardware. Well it was. This was back before the "current" shall issue laws were in effect.
The bottom line, is that after a while, one realizes what a pain in the butt carrying these items are, and typically modifies their personal safety tools to a couple/few items that are incorporated into their daily dress.
I still carry a small .38 and a couple of speed strips, a small 3" spyderco and a AA mag-lite on a keyring - along with some solid Awareness principles and a cell phone. This makes up my daily rescue tools and has served me quite well. Each has to decide for themselves. One needs to remember, reaction time requires something that is "in hand" to best handle a surprise encounter. Typically the items that are "in hand" are nothing, thus a good reason to learn and know some high stress gross motorskill defensive actions, like those taught at PPCT, and through a miraid of instructors certified by Bruce Sidddle.

I'm probably on a much different track of thought, but the only time I need a "back-up" when hunting is during the muzzle lolading season. On my belt, in a special holster, I carry a 50 cal Flintlock Kentucky pistol. It is my impression that any other type of sidearm is illegal during this special season.

This is not true
you can carry as long as you have a CPL and do not try and take game with it!!
so if you can carry you can have it just dont shoot at a deer
