Could anyone tell me if the ice will be safe enough for a couple of us to make the trip to St.Clair?
We were thinking of taking Friday off and do some fishing but the ice is our concern and don't want to waste the vacation day if it is not safe.
Any info would be great and if we do come what would everyone recommend as a starting spot? We will be coming from the south.
Thanks:fish:

with the warmer days earlier in the week and the boatload of snow we got i don't think i would waste a vacation day. this weekend were supposed to get high winds too.
just my opinion, i havent been there since last weekend so i wouldn't know. maybe someone who has been there will post conditions.
south of the clinton river spillway will be less ice because of the warmer run-off also, most likely the further north you'll find better ice.

IMO....id wait...fishing will get better as the month rolls on and fishing in high winds isnt my idea of a good time

I bucketed it today with no success. It definetly needs to tighten back up on the surface.

Ice is a good 5-7inches, Alot of slush on top, but should firm up by saturday.
Water clarity depending where u go, is fair to good. Genos 3-4ft, Southriver or candles 1 to 18 inches.
