I was thinking of making the long trek to Ginos this Saturday morning. Haven't been out there for a few years. I was looking for an ice report between now and Friday so I can make a little better decision on if it's worth the trip as far as the ice conditions after this last bought of weather.
Any ice info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I was one of the few out today south of Gino's. Picked up a couple of dinks. I think it's more the weather rather than the fish not being there. As far as clarity, in 7fow, i could still see 5 down. Some areas less than others. Most everyone today fished close to shore, with a few near Beacon Cove at the end of breakwall. Legs were frozen up to the shins from dredging through the slush. Shoreline very questionable, took the leap of faith to not break in at ditchline:dizzy:. Ice and slush were freezing back up though....

Well, that's a great question. First, I gotta get it past the boss......hopefully after dinner and a movie tonight, I may have a better result
After that hurdle is jumped, it seems maybe a little safer of a bet to stay on the smaller water closer to home.....not that the results will be much better, but it may be the safer bet?
What's your take on the situation?

BE CAREFUL!! Spoke w/ a friend tonight and his neighbor was out today and went in the drink. Don't know where but he was out in front of Gino's. He got out pretty quick and I guess he still punch a few holes and managed a few decent fish before frozen and leaving:yikes:. As far as depth goes..he went in above his waist:lol:.

Well, I got out and fishing by 6:30AM, had about 5-6"s of good ice under about 2"s of crust and slush, which should all be solid after last nights temps. I only managed 4 pike, the biggest being about 22"s and one whole Crappie. I was fishing anywhere from 12-23' of water just outside a weedbed. Lots of fish on the screen, threw everything in the box at them, just couldn't get them to open their mouths:mad: All the fish came on a small treble with a minnow. I made one move, hit a small pike (broke me off) as soon as I dropped my line in. I was off the ice by 1:30.
Sounds like you had some fun for the first time out on the big water. Hopefully I can hook up with you guys next time out!

Were you at Ginos or an inland lake? I just saw the 12-23' of water, and I thought you must have been on an inland lake.

Nice work on the Crappie though!

Ya, sorry about that. I stayed close to home rather than taking the trip seeing as how I couldn't go for the whole day. I was on a private lake between South Lyon and Brighton. Been having trouble finding the Crappie this winter so far. Hopefully I get a few more chances to try before the ice goes away.

I was thinking the same thing - sure would like to know where the 23' hole is at Gino's

Nice crappie though.
