One good thing about this arctic weather that we are having is that it gave me some time to dust off the renzetti and get some serious jig tying in for when the rivers thaw out a bit. My boxes are now full, so hopefully I can get out soon...

Heres a few of the new recruits I whipped up that should put some fish on the bank.:)

for those that are wondering the hooks I used are a mix of Rens-jigs and tiemco 2x strong nymph hooks that I bent.

Nice jigs there Gomer. Did you use the candle trick to bend your hooks? Do you think it makes the hook more "brittle"?

yes i heated them with a candle. I have reefed on them pretty good and they havent broke at the bend yet.

wow, i hear these patterns work well for 2 fly snagging. I never thought to tie them up on a jig. I know guys guys run bugs or fish gut under floats. are there times when these artificals are more effective? ie are they more a spring time pattern?

Steelhead Addict,

There have been days when I hooked more fish using plain jigs, however normally I tip them with bugs (the smaller jigs at least). The big zonker strip jigs (the ones in the 2nd pic) I fish plain. I don't dead drift them though, I give them some action.

Of course! What's not hilarious about gay jokes?
I guess they are an indication of posters who are small-minded, ignorant and basically worthless human beings...

People who aren't PC aren't necessarily worthless.
Some just make a stronger argument towards worthlessness than others...

People,

the last time I checked this was a sportsman forum and this section was about centerpinning.

What you do in your private life is YOUR business. What your social/political beleifs are irrelavent here.

Lets talk about fishing ok?

otherwise there is a "Sound off" forum...you all might find that a more appropriate place to discuss these matters.

If that could be done, you'd have done it along time ago.
