Looking for a local spot (harrison twp area, or oakland county area) to take kids ice fishing where we can catch large amounts of fish (panfish). Size doesn't matter I just want them to be able to catch a lot of fish and have fun. It would be even better if the water was clear and shallow and we could see them down there (we'll be in a shanty).

I have fished some of the channels near Lake St. Clair but there is always problems with safety and property issues.

Please let me know specifically where I can go.

I have been looking for a spot all January for this grownup to catch a lot of fish!

Metro Beach may be an easy spot to get into with kids, but I don't know what is the happenings on the ice/water situation.

If the ice is safe in the canals of the raft you can get A LOT of panfish/perch. Size might or might not be there but you can get a lot there. -Bryon

Park at the raft resturant. It will cost you 3 bucks to park if you go on a weekend. Then walk out, turn to you're right and go to the first or second canal. IF the ice looks safe by the pylons fish close to them. Glowing jigs work best because the water most lilkey will be cloudy. Start close to the bottom with waxies and jigging small short jerks and work you're way up. I'm pretty confedent you can get a mess of fish caught. There are some big gills in there too. I got an 11.5 inch this ice season there doing that. Any other info let me know, I'm always happy to help - Bryon

go to metro and walk to the left of the day sail ramp just off the rock piles in about 2-3 foot of water.short easy walking and sometimes the slobs move in.even an outhouse too. a lot of times just off the beach in front of the swim tower is great too. especially this time of the year and later.

The north lake at stoney creak metro park is loaded with stunted bluegill.
My daughter who is 4 loves to fish there.
She catches them on bare hooks.

Either an older member having fun or just a real piece of work!
I have a specific spot for you in mind but it might not have much ice!

Btw...I'm looking for a specific spot where I can catch many 10 inch plus perch on any day.
I don't have kids, but I could probably borrow a couple for the weekend!

Darn it, now my request for info on a spot to catch perch, 11" or larger, because my wife won't clean anything smaller is going to sound suspicious.:lol::lol:
