Has anyone used a Pak Shack chair type fishing shanty yet??
How do they hold up in winds of 10 mph, and more importantly 15-20 mph winds?
If there is a wind and you exit the chair, do they take off down the ice??
Is there anyway to anchor them? Do the flaps stay down when it's breezy?
Thanks for any info.
Last Friday I used it in that snow storm and it did ok in the high winds I had. You can't get out of the chair in the high winds, cause it will blow away, but you just have to open it up and lay it on it's side if you have to get out of it. I thought it did a great job. For the money, I really like the shanty. It's super light, comfortable, and warm. I've used it 3 times and I can't complain at all.
Good luck,

I have used mine 5 times and love the portability. MDH is right about the wind. Stay in your seat or it will go but it is so light that if you need to get out, just pop cover off and set it down. It is a little tight so don't try to pack in lots of stuff, but I do fish two holes in it.
Dunhams has the best price.
MDH have you been back out since the weekend?
Not yet. Too busy this week. I'm hoping to get out Saturday and Sunday, but I am unsure of the ice. Hopefully it held up. I'd love to get back out there at least once this weekend. I'm not counting on a day like I had last Sunday. Half of that would be fine by me.

MDH no problem on the ice once you get past the shore and the crack about 10 yards out. Went out to 7-8 ft of water and had good 6 in. of ice. Lots of fisherman but be careful when you first hit the ice. It may be solid by Saturday but I bet someone will bring 2x10 and throw it across open water and crack tomorrow. Saw a guy who got too close to edge tonight and went in the crack. Very cold and wet.
I bought one last week at gander moutain ar the port huron store. And they where on sale for 60.00 great bye. I have used it once and I like it and it works well in the wind just don,t get up.

Gander Mountain just reduced the price down to $49.99 if anyone is interested in getting one.
:sad:I just hate that when something goes on sale after your 14 days is up to get a refund.

I wasn't real happy with mine in a 15-20 mph wind. I kept my back to the wind, and had the front of it lifting and moving side to side quite a bit. Portability and set-up time are great.

Not expecting a whole lot, but it's worth a $50 gamble. Don't think I would have paid $100.
