me and my father were at cotton on monday, ice was fine when we got there at 8:30,we fished till 5:45 and called it quit's,snow on ice turned to slush and it turned foggy, there is a big crack about 30 yards after you get on the ice,be very carefull, try and find the best place to cross??me and dad got a little scared,it also looks like someone fell thru there? ice was 6" in the morning and 5" when we left, rain and warm temps might have done some more damage? good luck,be carefull, please post ice conditions if you go,going to try and get out this weekend if its safe?

As I was heading out there this afternoon,,, there was 2 guys coming in. We were on opposite sides of that crack, just staring at each other,, waiting for the other one to go first. There is a spot to cross where its still solid. My buddy just called me,, he was coming off the ice about 30 minutes ago,, he said the ice is still fine.

That's the difference between fishing the lake in the summer and the winter. In the summer, if you fall in and get a little wet, oh well..in the winter it becomes a major issue.:yikes:

I'm always extra cautious and nervous when I cross them. I'm sure it must look like I'm trying to leap across the Grand Canyon:lol::lol: I spud 4 or 5 times, look up and down the crack, and just about try to do a pole vault over it. I just can't get comfortable even though I know I am walking on probably solid ice. I guess it's that 1% chance I'll fall in.

I fished there yesterday and I forgot my spud, auger only. oops
I wouldn't be caught dead out there after the snow without one as there are about a hundred spearing holes, some marked, some not.
I also saw one bubbling hole about 8ft in diameter. Very scary.
Fish, well largest in bucket 9.5" largest in hole maybe 10.5" lots of 6,7 & 8"s.
7ft of water from Cotton (clear) to Salt river(cloudy).
Walk slowly and use your spud.
Somebody needs to bring a short 6ft plank to cross the crack at launch.
