I know you need to have a "rigid" tow bar while towing your shanty in Canada,,, but does that mean for "all" shanties??? For instance,,, I have a rigid tow bar for "my" shanty,,,, but can I just "tie" my buddys' shantys to the back of mine?? Or is that a "no-no"??

I've never heard that one asked before...I'm curious to know too.
When I go out with the kids, I've got 75' of stuff tied behind me....looks like a circus is passing through

If you can hook up your trailer that you hauled the 4 wheeler with to your 4 wheeler , and pack all your stuff in the trailer, is that ok ? Seems alright, but in Canada you never know.

I thought about that,,, I'm pretty sure my trailer weighs more than my ATV. With the way the ice/weather has been outta Mitchells Bay I'd rather not plunk my ATV and trailer:lol:.
I'm pretty sure that's legal though.

this is legal and the people riding on the trailer dont need helmets [us or can.] as for the rigid tow bar i know a lot of the canadians are running their tow rope thru a piece of pvc and dogging it off to the bike...as for towing a second sled/shak i think that may be alright...i tow a pack sled behind the trailer...the first sled must stop the second sled from getting in your wheels...of course every co over there has their own interpretation...they cant get it straight on the simcoe board either...

My Dad drilled a hole in the back of his trap and placed a big 'I' bolt. Perfect for his buddies rigid arm to go into. 1 quad - 2 traps both with rigid arms
As far as I know both shanties/shacks must have a ridged tow bar attached to them. A buddy got a ticket at Mitch for just the same thing you just asked. Now maybe that was just that MNR officer I don't know but if I were you the cost of having them both ridged is a lot less than the ticket you decide.

Two years ago I went out at Beaverton on Lake Simcoe towing the Aluma trailer that I carry my Arctic 650 on. I had two passengers on the trailer, one with a helmet and one without. I was stopped and told that all occupants on the trailer must have a helmet. My buddy walked until I took one to where we were fishing and then I went back and got him with the borrowed helmet. No ticket but was told I was given a "break" You just never know for sure up there !

I've fished Simcoe alot and I have seen quite a few people with two fish traps behind their quads, both with rigid tow bars. You can make a tow bar out of emt pretty easy.
My UNEDUCATED guess is that it would be fine. Like someone else already said, the rigid rule is to prevent unsafe situations from things getting tangled in the wheels which could also lead to a fire if it gets pinned against hot exhaust metal. Don't see how the back shanty good to that if the front on is on a rigid bar.

If anyone is riding on a trailer, quad, snowmobile or a rigid shanty, every one is supposed to have a helmet. You can try and risk it, but, why take a chance in hurting yourself, or getting a fine.... Also, in canada if you take your vehicle on the ice you are supposed to have an orv sticker on it. if you are from the states...
Found that out last weekend when we went to Simcoe...... None of us got ticketed, but I think it is a some good info for all of you that like to go to Simcoe or Mitchell's Bay.......
