Anyone out there getting into any nice gills?? Not looking for your spot, just nice to read some reports, for those of us not able to get out as often as we'd like. We went out to a dependable spot on Harsens two weekends ago, all we managed were 50 centpiece gills til dark, then Joeker51 got into some crappies.

Im not one to keep gills, I don't like to clean them, I'd rather have a mess of perch. But this morning I hit the gills hard. Some real slabs too, I had to catch 15 in the 8" range and about 100 total. Out of spikes, waxies, and minnow pieces the waxies out produced 20 to 1. Jigs that allowed a more horizantal presentation did the best. I had best results with a Lil Atom Optic Stealth, the ones made of tungsten in a firetiger/parrot like pattern.
The water was the best its been for my new aqua view, clearest its been. It really allows you to refine your presentation. I did see that a lot of the fish were striking the jig shying away from the bait, I thought a switch to minnow pieces would be better but a lot still would only strike the jig. I wonder why.
I was having a good day, walking back to the truck I encounterd the coast guard with there little air boat. The seen me stopped, and told me to hurry up and go back. Their wake was waving the ice and weakening it. To say the least I went in up to my waist:rant:
Coast Guard! People use the ice. If you feel the need to train take it further offshore.
And I would post some pics but my gallery is about up to its limit and I know of no alternitive way to make it work.

I have a secret spot that I can go to, get a limit of gills, and not see another soul all morning.
