Hey Guys, does anybody know a good ways to hang a Bear rug to a wall? I have it mounted on felt and can't seem to visualize how to hang it on my plaster wall. Thanks in advance.

I got a grommet kit from a craft and leather shop. You can get different size grommets. You need the little anvil and punch. Put the grommmets as far from the edge you can. Make sure you put enough on 'cuase the felt will rip out. I held it on the wall and marked where the grommets were, then i put up picture hooks. You need a couple of people to help with this. I hung a six foot bear rug and i think i used 6 or 7 grommets.
Thanks Judohunter!!! That info is very helpfull.Did all your groumets stay on the felt line ? Did you have to fasten the hide at all ? The groumets must have been installed on the upwards side of the hide, then letting the rest hang down.Sorry about all the questions but I would hate to have this mount rip or fall, I think I will use
a few more groumets in fear of a disaster. Thanks again...

I hung a bear rug using hard board stapled to the back of the rug. I cut out a piece of board using the felt as a guide, only put the board near the top edge of the rug. After stapling I put duct tape over the backs off the staples to protect the wall. I then drilled hole in the board and hung it like a large picture.
thanks yooper.. Did you hang it horizontal
or vertical ? Did you staple thru the felt from the front side or thru the hide ?
the rug is heavy and I don't want to rip the felt. I would like to hang it horizontally with it on a slight angle downward to view the head and mouth.thanks..

I hung mine horizontally with the head pointing slightly up. My taxidermist had put three layers of felt so I stapled the bottom two to the board, using the top layer to cover the staples.
Hey thanks for the great info. I am waiting for my rug to arrive. I got a good boar this spring. I have not decided if I want to hang him on the wall or put him in front of my wood stove.
