I made some Ermine boxes for some property i hunt in Hale. Is it worth my time to make some more for the Monroe area? This is all prep. for next year which will be my first year of trapping so i have plenty of time but a buddy happened to leave a table say at my house. I would hate to hear of a good Ermine population around here and have to use a hand saw. Thank you for all who post.

I live in lenawee county and i built one ermine box and i had put it out for about 2 weeks but i never cought anything, i was also using a mouse for bait it must have not selled strong enough.
I have seen two differant sets of weasal tracks in two places that i trap so i do know that they are around here. You never know what you might catch so i would go ahead a make a few extra boxes for around here and put them out.
One of my trapper buddys that has been trapping for about 25 year said that he used to catch a fair number of weasel around rock and log piles.
So good luck and i hope you catch some.

Ditch,
Thank you for the reply. I have been reading the forums and found my first set of boxes were made a little on the pricey side. I used 2x6 stud instead of ceder board. Now that i know i can make them cheaper and learning they are in the area. I will definately build them. What is your opinion on the milk jug and #1 longspring set up?

Copied these off of trapperman.com hope they help. more info in the archives on that site. As for weasels in SE michigan i used to live near Mt. Clemens and had one or two get in my chicken coups every year.
