View Full Version : Lake Chemung Outing

Wondering if anyone is interested in having an outing on chemung. Im not posting this up just because of the thread WalleyeChaser made. I have been kicking the idea around the idea since the beginning of the season. We also don't have to many outings around our area and there are alot of lakes in and around Livingston. The only issue I can see with having a outing on chemung is parking.

As for the outing itself we could have a little derby(biggest fish and most fish). Also if he have a big enough turn out it would be pretty cool to try 2man teams. The only thing Im not certain about is the date. There are a couple things going on within the next couple weeks around here. Independence Lake Derby feb. 9th. and the Lake Fenton Outing Feb. 23rd.
I was thinking maybe feb. 16th or first saturday in March.

Please post up with any ideas or if you are interested. Also feel free to shoot me a PM.

The 16th works good for me. Hopefully walleyes thread doesn't stop people from coming to the outing. Maybe even walleyechaser himself will show up?

I threw it out there in his thread and he even said it wouldn't be a half bad idea because most of the outings are hike.

It wont stop people, he opoligized cut him some slack he was just angry about people not being considerate with parking. The 16th would be tough for me also how about the 9th? Sounds like fun.
A meet & greet with some brewskies, maybe some venison jerky and of course alot of bull chit :D. make a poll with dates to vote on and see what shakes ;).

If the date is right I can go along. The 16th also works for me as well. However, I have 3 day weekends so I'm sure I can squeeze it in whenever it is. Also, yes Walleychaser did apologize. I know what he meant about the parking too. It was a mess.It was the rest that set me off with how it came across.(Over it now.:coolgleam) I wouldn't mind if he was at the get together too. :) This could be a really good idea. Maybe we can cook some brats or something out there. Also, in regards to parking maybe we could park somewhere else that's close, meet up and car pool there.;):)

I'm over my little hissy fit . And yes, it was the parking mess that set me off and not the number of people out there. Hell, its been that way for several years now so why should I gripe about it.

I'd be all for a M&G there and yes I would be there as long as you don't stuff me down a hole!

As for parking,we could park 2 to a space as long as both drivers knew who each other was so no one would be "blocked in". It would be nice if we could get a couple of trash barrels out there-----anybody have access to a couple of extras?

Just as a side note and a little history, the driveway entrance to the access wasn't always where its at now.It used to be the angular street just before the launch but residents complained about noise, garbage, etc. so the DNR put in their own entrance directly on Hughes Rd..The small access at Shenango gets really bad with old bed mattresses, carpets and what else so its hard to blame the residents for getting upset and another lake (no name mentioned) was shut off by the association for noise and garbage reasons so I'm a little sensative to loosing lake access for many because of a few.

Walleye we forgive you. :)

I might be able to get some barrels but knowing my luck I would get a ticket for littering.

I'm thinking March 1st.

Anyone interested in a little tournament?

$5 a head

Two categories:
1. Biggest Fish- Any species can enter
2. Most- If there is a Tie, Biggest fish in the person possession will determine the winner. Any fish under 5" will not qualify. Respect MI limits. Bait fish do not count.

Im thinking about 10am starts the whole shindig. Sign up by 10:00am for the Tournament and goes till 5pm.

I'm cool with that. Is there a way to keep track of most fish though if they are dinks and we're going to let the "Minnows" go. (AKA little ones you don't want to eat and may as well be called minnows!!.....LOL!!!) Other than that sounds good to me.

I'm sure we could figure something out. Two to a spot sounds good if we know they are MS sportsman guys out there too. (Did notice people blocking others in the parking lot last week. That was pretty inconsiderate. I moved and parked in the drive next to the pay shack. I had the red Ford Ranger with racing stickers on it if you saw it.:D)

i edited it right after you post so you did catch me off guard. Im glad you caught me because that would suck having someone coming up with a bucket full of dinks sayin "where is ma money?"

I made this thread to gather information for the outing. so later I'm going to make another thread that will have all the rules/times and all other info in the first post instead of being all over the place. I will post a link in this thread and anyone interested please post on there.

I seem to recall that WIlson Marine has a lot of parking space at there 2 locations as does Wonderland Marine which is next door to the 2nd Wilson's Store.
Perhaps they wouldn't mind some that wanted to car pool parking there. Its worth a shot. What do you guys think?

BTW,March 1st sounds good here too ! I just hope with the long range forecasts calling for a warmer than usual Feb.,March and April that we still have ice.

I was going to try and come up with a parking arrangement later one when i headed out there. That sounds like a good idea.

Having a fish fry wouldnt be a bad idea either. I can bring some 'gills and crappie.

The parking at the Marina sounds like a good idea too. I don't have the # there. Maybe duckhunter could get it. (Lives in Howell:)) I'm sure they probably wouldn't mind. Also, that fish fry sounds like a really good idea. I could probably bring some crappies and gills as well. My sister wants me to get some for a fish fry next weekend, but I'm sure I could twist my arm and fish more to contribute.:lol:

Duck-Hunter,

Your stealing all of my Lake Fenton Outing ideas.. But i'm down for a tourny. If you need some help doing anything, tell me. I've got some experience doing this stuff.

Shane

PS. If parking is going to me a problem, car pooling wouldnt be a bad idea. I can get a lot of stuff in the back of my truck. So i would volunteer to be 1 driver. I can carry up to 5 more people and we can fit as much as we can in the bed of the truck.

I don't have an Aqua-Vu or anything like that. I can cover the minnows and the waxies. I'm not really worried about it. I'll hit up the bait store on the way there. It might not be bad for you to bring some food and something to drink for yourself. I'll be bringing a couple beers for me:evil:. (Not to many though. Gotta drive home after dark.:))
