This weekend my nieghbor I headed over to the Walleye Derby on Munoscong bay. We did'nt fish but it got us thinking about going this thursday. Now both of us have ice fished but not really for walleye's. Our experience is with panfish mostly. So I got a couple of questions for you walleye guru's. First what are we looking at for lures. Spoons, jigs, jigging raps. etc. Any good colors we should pick up. Also what about bait, minnows I would imagine. Finally should we be jiggin, or let the bait do the work for us. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Jigging raps with perch minnow hooked on the treble. Chartreuse and silver, clown, blue and silver, perch. I would jig these standard lift drop pause. Swedish Pimples work well also. Gold, silver are a good start. Hook smaller minnows through the head. I will usually jig while I watch my tip up or a rod with a minnow and bobber. I use 4-6" minnows for the tip ups.

most lakes-rivers i start with jigging rapalas/minnow head
on munoscong i've did better jigging swedish pimples /minnow head...i also use heavier line when fishing munoscong bay because it is so shallow i can jerk them out of the hole..10 pound test minimum

I like the buckshot lures tipped with 2 or 3 perch minnows. Usually the gold/orange halographic colors work the best for me.......

Depends on the day how hard to jig. The vex will usually tell me what action they are liking......

I prefer swedish pimples. And my go to color is Pearl. For whatever reason, i seem to do better with pearl. How were they doing out there? I'm heading up on the 8th and hoping to get some eyes.

man that's quite the question!

Jiggin Raps
Nils Master Jiggin Shads
Buckshot spoons
Swedish pimples
Chubby Darters
Rattle Traps
Lead head jigs
Frostee Jigs
Fat Boys
Plain hooks and a minnow
Tip ups
Jigging rods
Deadsticks and a slip bobber

Two in each color should do!

In all seriousness, I do carry all of the above, plus some other odd ball stuff. They have all had their time and place.

As far as colors, start out with the basics (black and silver, chartruse, perch, gold, glow, that kind of stuff) then start picking up the "hot" colors as you go on

Yeh it is big question but better than asking in multiple posts. Thanks for all your advice guys. Looks like I get to go shopping for some new lures.
Thanks again
