Had a great weekend fishing up at Houghton Lake this weekend!! IH722 was up there to join in.....Plenty of snow coming down....the wife even came along for a quite weekend away from the city!! She loved it....caught walleye every time out!! Tried some new lures and I was pleased with the results!! No pictures as I helped fill Ians Freezer with my catch! ;)

Hey Kevin glad to hear you and Ian hit the fish, We were up this weekend as well. The wife and daughter wanted to snowmobile and hit TUT so my fishing was limited, got out once, hit the east bay area, caught my limit of hammer handles, no walleye but did get into some crappie, late morning too, not what I'd call ideal crappie conditions. Gonna have to get back up soon!

I need to get some hand warmers to handle those long rides across to the west side of the lake.

I couldn't catch a walleye on Houghton Lake to save my life.
Didn't go to tip up town but fished H.L. this weekend. Saturday fished for about 6 hours with two hammer handles just before dark. Sunday fished about 6 or 7 hours and caught 6 or 7 small pike with about 5 or 6 more hookups that we did not capitalize on. All in all, had a great weekend.
What's the secret for catching something besides < 20" pike. I love going to houghton lake but certainly not for the quality of fishing i've experienced so far.

The secret is to do a LOT of homework and take a closer look at the west side of the lake. That's all I have to say. :)

We were up there too. I noticed it isn't about the fishing as much as the partying and drinkin. They didn't have the big arch up on the ice. Did watch some of them fools jumpin into the water though. Always good for a laugh. Specially the guy in the cow suit and the queen and her runner up.
Definatly not what I rember from when I was a kid. But had a good time still.

The closest I came to tip-up town this weekend...is when Ian and I rode past on the way to our Hotspot!! The wife wasn't interested in going during the day....so we kept ourselves busy doing other things! ;)

were I fish at there is about 12 to 15 inches of ice, and there was 5 trucks out there. you could here the ice making alot of noise when they came by, some were getting stuck and having to clear the snow away to get going again.
