What kind of structure do you like to fish in for blue gill, crappie, and perch.

Need some suggestions because i can locate tons of schools of blue gill with the aqua-vu, but can never find crappie.

I'm going out tongiht so the faster the responses the better.

Thanks!

Where you find gills,,, you'll find crappie. The crappie are probably suspended(above) your camera.

Yeah, you are probably going right through the crappies on your way to the bottom and not see them suspended up above. I used to have the same problem. Just pan the camera and lower slowly down the hole so you can see the column

the crappie will be suspended and spread out on deep flats at this time of the year. Today i caught 10 keepers they were suspended from 25 to 32 down in 40 foot. Its very important to have a flasher when crappie fishing, so you can put the bait in front of the fish when they come thru.

Sell your camera and get some sonar and you'll never have that problem again:D

or keep the camera and buy some sonar. I can see where a camera could really come in handy.

i have only a camera but have seen sonar in use. from what i have found,

camera = toy

sonar = tool

i have a sonar and swear by it but still consider the camera a tool also. have learned a lot watching all the videos guys are posting. they just give you a differant point of view. will have one next year for sure.

I do the best around docks,sometimes at weed beds with drop offs I make way points on the GPS in the summer and use them in the winter. the week ends are tuff with all the snow machines running around seeing how close they can come to you

Don't mean to hijack the thread but I agree that cameras are also tools, maybe a #3 phillips head. Yeah, it'll get a few things done around the house but if I could only have one, it would a multi-bit interchangeable (sonar). I was just joking about selling your camera from a personal perspective as a poor nursing student with limited funds:D. As far as structure, stick to the basics. Look for changes (drops, holes, humps, weed edges, subtle depressions on a flat, etc.) and work different depths. I generally find crappies suspended although I don't usually target them, I just see them come through on my "multi-bit" sometimes and bring my jig up to them. Perch are pretty much always on the bottom and bluegills are mostly on the bottom (although they will suspend) in my experience but if you can find some a few feet off, get after em'.
