Those prices are for the FLW Walleye Tour, which is the higher end of the two FLW Walleye circuits. I fish the "cheaper" FLW League. If the Tour is the Big Leagues, then the FLW league is AA ball!
Here are the prices for the League...

I know a couple of Guys that have done well on the Leage. Depends on if You want to be a boater or Co-Angler. The Boater supplies boat/tackle & rods-reels for BOTH Anglers and makes the decisions on how they will fish - trolling/rigging/jigging - ect. I'm sure there is a good (better) description on the FLW website. C-man

Fishing the League is pretty fun. I have done it for a couple of years as a co-angler, and have even cashed a few checks. I can tell you my story as to how I got in...

I have fished lots of lakes around the country where I have lived and then moved here. I had tried jigging the Detroit River with disappointing results. Just too different from what I was used to. I told my wife that I wanted to get a guide for a day on the river, just to learn the techniques. She gave me the $$$ for the guide for a Christmas present. I was checking into it when I found the FLW League info. For about the same money, I could fish 3-4 events, and one of them was on the Detroit River. I talked with a few people on this board, especially Bob B, and he talked me into it. I figured that I could learn the river, and fish with a few other good fishermen on Erie, Saginaw, etc and learn about them too. Luckily enough, I drew Lance Valentine as my partner, a great Detroit River fisherman and a great guy. I learned a ton, we cashed a check (which was a bonus, but not really why I entered), and had lots of fun.

I have drawn good and less good partners, but always learn something every time I go. I probably could fish it as an angler now that I know the drill, but due to work issues, I probably cannot devote the prefishing days necessary to do it right. I would recommend being a co-angler to anyone who wants to learn. Remember, if you are not the angler, you are not calling the shots. If you can take and follow direction, and are interested in learning, it is a great experience.

Here is a great article on how to be a good co-angler:

Very good article and accurate.

I was fortunate this past spring on the DR to have been paired with the right pro's. We fished as a team and got along very well.

Day one this spring

This was my first tourney and I must admit, one definite highlight of my life. (third place overall and won $3500)

2008 I plan on doing 2 league events as co-angler and a couple of BFL events.

2009 maybe be the boater for a couple of events.

I read your other post. It all sound good.
I have a boat that is set up rather well for something like this but much rather
be a Co-Angler first to see how it all works.
So do I have to be come a member of the FLW or what? If so what grade category must I purchase. Can it be less than the competitor membership...
Thanks
Rob

Hey Robert, did you watch those videos yet?

I sure did , very nice.
I have also been very derelict in making you edited copies
:dizzy:
and I also didn't notice any 'hang' or glitch in the spot you specified , although I watched them on my PC , it may be the data rate is unusually high right at that spot and your DVD players' decoder kinda hiccups on it there.....
One of these days I need to get over that way & drag the waters.....

:chillin:

Of course it would have to be on a day when you don't have any paying clients!!

Maybe if I can get motivated soon - I can burn you copies with "Light Scribe" labels...... I do have a few of those downstairs.
;)

I plan on fishing the river as a pro when the tour returns to the river next year. I will need to borrow a boat though to do so because I don't think I will have mine in time!

I was about to do the May 17th in Lk. Erie (league tourney) as a boater, when a nephew decides to get married that day.
