If you have never tried these or haven't recently, give it a try. Fry them up just like you would yellow squash or zucchini. A litttle oil and/or butter in a frying and you're all set. They can also be grilled on the outdoor grill. They have a woodsy taste..something like mushrooms.

Man I love them dipped in egg and rolled in bisquick or flour.

If you have a garden, then you probably have some green tomatoes right outside your door. You gotta give'em a try.
Trout,
I've had them that way also, but prefer them w/o the coating.

I tried this today with my breakfast and it was wonderful! I used an olive oil and butter combo and seasoned the tomatoes with a little salt, pepper and parmesan.
I also really like taking very ripe smaller tomatoes and cooking them in the left over bacon grease.
Thanks for the recipe!

MMMMMM yeah, they are great! :) I heard you can do the same thing with cucumbers.

Had some yesterday with a vegetable seasoning mixture dashed on top. They were great!

We had a late meal tonight and I saw your post while getting the food ready. We needed a side dish to go with the wild turkey pot pie. Thanks for the idea. We were getting a little tired of cucumbers, yellow squash, & zucchinni. We've been getting ripe tomatoes for about a week.

I like almost ripe tomatoes better than green, I think they have more flavor. Dipped in seasoned flour and fried in olive oil. Yum. I made my first batch yesterday.
